halo hype
the release of Halo 3 is perhaps the most hyped video game to date. there is soo much merchandising (Yogurt tells us that’s where the real money is made) i’m surprised Bungie doesn’t have a Master Chief motorcycle helmet. if they did i’d buy it. anyway, it was enough to bring Xbox 360 sales over the Nintendo Wii and enough for me to consider buying a 360. before i seriously consider that i had better see what the first two are about. now i’ve played Halo 2 on Xbox Live a bit in the past 2 years, but i have yet to be ranked higher than 4 (not good). check out my Bungie.net profile for current stats. ANYWAY, last week i started playing the first game, Halo: Combat Evolved, and today i beat it. yes, i realize i’m nearly 6 years behind. here’s me caring.
quickie review: initial thoughts were its not that different from 2 and there’s a health bar and shield (2 just has the shield). i like the controls of the game. a lot. compared to Unreal Championship its easy to pick up and play. storyline is what you’d expect for having to save Earth by fighting aliens on a space station before they attack. graphics are great, nothing compared to 7th generation consoles, but still great. soundtrack was composed by Martin O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori and i feel really makes the game. the music sets the mood perfectly and the sound effects are what i’d expect. difficulty of the game? well, i played through it on easy so, it was not difficult. am i going to play it through on normal or heroic? doubtful. did i enjoy the 10+ hours spent? yes. recommend? sure.
what better way to end this post than a Halo LOL cat. yes the same people that have been bringing those lolcats pics since the beginning of the net also have gamer influenced ones as well. narf!
